1 Day Dujiangyan Panda Volunteer Tour

07:00: Pick up from Hotel

We will meet you at the pick-up location and drive to Dujiangyan Panda Base. It's about 65km away from Chengdu downtown and the drive takes about 1.5hr depending on the road condition.

Note: The pick-up location will be informed 1 day in advance.

08:30: Arrive at the Dujiangyan Panda Base

08:30-09:00: Register the Volunteer Activity

Arrive at the Dujiangyan Panda Base at about 8:30am and we will register and sign a security contract with the Giant Panda Volunteer Service Center. After that, all the volunteers are offered overalls and gloves. Before work, all the volunteers will be given job safety training and introduction of the job content.

09:00-10:00: Cleaning Panda's House

Clean the residual bamboo including carrying out leftover bamboos, cleaning their feces in the exlosure for pandas, carrying in fresh bamboos, etc. Observe giant pandas' living environment and state. Clean the panda's house.

 

10:00-11:00: Panda Observation in the Park

Observe pandas' behavior under the the guidance of the instructor. Get to know the hidden meaning of their behaviors. Tour around the panda base. You can take stroll inside the park and watch the cute pandas outside. Please kindly note you cannot get close to the panda or touch the panda.

 

11:00-11:30: Feeding Observation & Watch Behavior Training

Watch how the instructor feed the cute pandas and see how the instructor try to train the behaviors of the pandas. Please kindly note you will not fee the panda in person but watch the keepers to do so who will also introduce the relative knowledge to you in the meantime.

11:30-13:30: Lunch in the Park

All the volunteers will have a lunch with the staffs in the panda protection and research center.

13:30-14:30: Make Special Food for the Pandas in Rehabilitation Area

We will make special food for the panda in ehabilitation area. Because they are still in recovery, the receipt of the food will be different for normal pandas.

14:30-15:00: Make Panda Cake for Panda and Understand the Receipt

The instructor explains the panda wowotou formula first, then all the volunteers make panda cakes for giant pandas under the instructor's leading. Learn the benefits of the wowotou.

 

15:00: Certificate Award

You will be awarded an unique certificate for panda volunteer keeper as an unforgetable experience, showing your love to giant panda. Then return the working overalls and see goodbye to the giant pandas and your instructor.

 

15:30: Drive Back 

Drive back to Chengdu and drop you off at the drop-off location (same as pick-up location). Tour ends. 

 

Special Note

1. Please wear comfortable shoes that's suitable for work. Do not wear slippers or high heels.

2. Please do not wear perfume or use anything with irritant smell (mosquito repellent, skin care, makeups, etc.) and do not paint your nails.

3. Volunteers are required to be healthy. If you are currently suffering from illness (cold, fever, infectious dieases), you are not suitable for this program.

4. Please  read the security agreement carefully when you register the program. Giant panda looks adorable and harmless, but it is a carnivores. You are not allowed to touch the pandas. Every volunteer should follow the instructor's guidance and arrangements and strictly abide by the rules and regulations.

5. The above arrangements may be adjusted, delayed or cancelled due to  specific situation (policy change, epidemic, natural disaster, etc.).

6. Volunteers needs to be between 6-70 years old.
