What is the story of Mount Siguniang?
There is a legend about Mount Siguniang. It was once a prosperous valley, but a vicious demon descended, summoning storms and destroying homes, preying on people and livestock. The kind-hearted old hunter Balang fought the demon to the death to save his fellow villagers, though he severely wounded the demon, he unfortunately sacrificed his life.
Barang's four beautiful and brave daughters, overcoming their grief, took up their father's weapons and vowed to eliminate the demon. After enduring great hardships, they found the demon's lair and, after days and nights of intense battle, finally destroyed it. However, the victory drained their vitality. To ensure the eternal peace of their homeland, the four sisters interlocked their hands and transformed into four sacred snow-capped mountains standing side by side. The tallest peak, Yaomei Peak, is the youngest sister's form.
From then on, these four “maids” clad in white snow guarded the valley. The winds and frosts subsided, the homeland regained its vitality, and the people lived in peace.
